Summer in Chi-town

I have been married for over a month now!  My husband is wonderful, and our home is now comfortable and calm.  Our place was quite the mess when we arrived, but most of our wedding gifts and storage boxes and clothing have been sorted, trashed, donated, etc.  Pictures have been hung, and the place is looking like a home!  The finishing touch will be the installation of a window AC unit.  We had decided not to pay the extra monthly expenses for air conditioning, but now that the 90° weather has arrived, we are defeated.  Sweating all the time makes us feel gross and lazy.  I haven't even deep-cleaned the apartment yet. I can't bring myself to exert the extra effort in these temperatures!  Chicago is known for its terrible blizzards, but she tries to kill people in the summer, too.  What a jerk.

I am not a morning person.  My family and roommates know that I emanate anti-social grumpiness and general disdain for the world when I first crawl out of bed, especially before I drink my medicinal coffee.  However, I now get up at 3:45 a.m. and walk into Panera Bread at 5:00!  Switching from a closer to an opener is an abrupt change, but Josh and I are enjoying the new schedule.  We now spend our afternoons and evenings together, like normal married couples.

Despite the heat, we are enjoying July in Chicago!
