Every restaurant has regulars. Regulars who sit at the same table, order the same food, and know the names of the employees. Pretty typical, right?
Recently, one particular regular, one who eccentrically transcends the aforementioned criteria, reached over the counter and passed me a brown bag.
I was chosen as a recipient of one of this regular's famous, homemade cards.
It's the thought that counts, right?
My coworker summed up the situation well, "Nice... but so, so creepy."
Do you have any bizarre work stories?
Wow Faith, that is creepy! I used to work at a coffee shop. I this guy that came in every week and would just stare. I was so creeped out. Your's certainly tops that though!
ReplyDeleteat the bank my former supervisor went to TOGOS one day. Life was never the same at work. The TOGOS worker (married and a newborn baby at the time was his status) had the other coworker come to our work and tell my supervisor she was really pretty or something. Then she found a note and flowers on her car. Then she got hit up on facebook and he wrote many letters including one that proposed he leave his family if she wanted. Btw. She never once responded nor talked to this man. I found it disturbing and wanted to file a report but she just laughed it off in a way that made me think perhaps the attention felt good although it was creepy. I don't know. People are definitely crazy though. I can now attest to that from working at the bank for 2 years. haha
ReplyDeleteummm, crazy.
ReplyDeleteUnless this was from a child, which judging by the handwriting I think not. Obviously they have some mental condition. There is the sweetest autistic girl in my church and she writes someone a letter every Sunday...usually about things she counts. haha
I still think your letter is creeptastic though!!
When I worked at AJ's in Morehead, (I was only 15) a man that I waited on kept cracking jokes at me and talking to me whenever I would bring something to his table. I was trying to be nice and chatty, but he kept asking me questions about school and stuff. Then he asked me how old I thought he was. I wasn't interested in playing that game but I thought he was around 30. Turns out he was my dad's age and had a daughter my age. The next time he came in to eat, I wasn't working, but I found out he asked for me to be his waitress. So so creepy!
ReplyDeleteoh wow....
ReplyDeletei know what you mean by regulars but sheesh, this is a little creepy! haha
